Synthetic Graphite

Synthetic graphite - is recycling an alternative?

In addition to synthetic graphite, there is growing interest in the recycling of graphite. Again, this is seen as a potential solution to the challenge of meeting the ever-growing demand for graphite at a time when the supply of natural graphite is generally becoming harder to mine. While recycling graphite is certainly of great interest to the graphite industry, at the current time it is nowhere close to being able to replace the supply of graphite from other sources. Even if 100% of the available graphite could be 100% recycled, the fact would still remain that demand for graphite is constantly growing, meaning that for the foreseeable future, further supplies of graphite would be required in any case.
