Carbon Blacks

Carbon blacks - a variety of blacks

To a person sitting in an office, the colour printed on the paper is black and that is all there is to the matter. End users are likely to be indifferent to the fact that carbon blacks can actually display a wide variety of colour properties. The ultimate colour is actually a feature of many different factors which interact with each other in a delicate manner. These include the size of the primary particles (the individual particles which group together to form aggregate particles), the size of the resulting aggregate particles and the surface area. In addition to this, the ease with which the material can be dispersed influences its end performance and this is a function of its structure.
