Carbon Black Dispersion

Carbon black dispersion - understanding the principles behind the processing

Carbon black dispersion is essentially the process of evening out the carbon black present in any given area. Typically it will begin with carbon black contained in one area and will end with it spread, as smoothly as possible, over a much larger area. The process requires using enough energy to achieve the desired effect, while stopping short of destroying the very properties which give carbon black its value, in particular its conductivity. How difficult this is to achieve depends on the size of the carbon black particles. In simple terms the smaller the size of the particle, the harder it is to disperse it effectively without damaging it. Dispersion technology is a significant industry where advances are continually being made thanks to the knowledge and experience gained over the years.
