In general, a catalyst support should allow for a high degree of metal dispersion. The choice of the support is largely determined by the nature of the reaction system. The support should also be stable under reaction and regeneration conditions, and should not interact adversely with solvents, reactants or reaction products. TIMREX® graphite powders satisfy all of these requirements and, due to their high purity, the risk of contamination of the active metal is avoided. At the same time, the large particle surface area allows for an optimal dispersion of the metal catalyst.
